e Holy Spirit has descended upon the Church with the election of a new pontiff, American Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost. The Church of Youngstown celebrates with gratitude, joy and hope the election of Pope Leo XIV. We pledge our prayers and support to our new shepherd. His election coincides with this weekend’s observance of Good Shepherd Sunday. May Pope Leo XIV be a Good Shepherd who leads, feeds, and protects with the heart of Jesus. May his leadership be strong, his influence extend wide, and his voice be heeded by all. May this moment be a grace filled time of unity for the Church and the world!”
As bishop I will celebrate a Mass on Monday, May 12, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. in Saint Columba Cathedral to pray for our new pope. I invite not only our clergy, religious, and faithful but religious leaders and people of all faiths to join us as we celebrate and offer prayers for Pope Leo XIV.
In addition, I will lead an evening prayer service on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Ravenna (center of diocese) for all who work for the Church, namely our clergy, religious, faithful, and diocesan and church employees throughout the diocese who are integral to the mission of the Church.

Rosary: 8:20 a.m. SundayAs of May 28, 2022, St. Joseph Church, St. Ambrose Church in Garrettsville, St. Joan of Arc in Streetsboro, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Aurora officially became a collaborative region known as Portage North. On February 4/5, 2023, it was announced that Portage North will be under the guidance of one Pastor and one Parochial Vicar.
As of May 1, 2023, Bishop Bonnar has appointed Rev. Frantisek "Francis" Katrinak as pastor of the Portage North parishes. Rev. Joseph Ruggieri is the parochial vicar. Fr. Francis resides at St. Joan of Arc Parish in Streetsboro

As of November 15, 2023, Fr. Brian Smith has been assigned as parochial vicar of the Portage North parish. He resides at St. Joan of Arc Parish in Streetsboro.
Deacon Gerry Sc
opilliti and Deacon Steven Gies will continue assisting the priests as they serve the four parishes of northern Portage County.
Fr. Chris Luoni is serving as a Sacramental Minister for all of Portage County with residence at St. Joseph Parish's Rectory.
As of March 1, 2024, the Office of

began handling all office business for both parishes.

With deep sadness, the Diocese of Youngstown announces the passing of Reverend David Bridling, pastor of St. Patrick Parish, Kent, Ohio & University Parish Newman Center. Reverend Bridling served the Diocese of Youngstown for the past nine years. Eternal Rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon him. We are in need of volunteers for three positions at the fair this year . . . chair or co-chair for meat wrapping and slicing along with some volunteers for that group, chair or co-chair the Pop North (by the tractor pull area) along with some volunteers for that group, and chair or co-chair for the Soft Serve Booth and volunteers to help in the booth. The Mantua K of C Council #3766 along with St. Joseph Parish will be hosting a Mass for People with Special Needs on Sunday, June 8, at 9 a.m. We all know people with special needs resulting from physical, emotional, mental, or cognitive conditions are all around us in society: at school, at work, and in our families. Unfortunately, it can sometimes be challenging for these important members of our society to participate in liturgies due to physical and social barriers or even family member anxiety. Celebrating a Mass for People with Special Needs can be the first of many steps toward integrating them into regular weekly or even daily Mass and more deeply into all the sacraments and other aspects of parish life. Putting their faith into action, the Knights of Columbus are hosting this Mass and hopes to spread the message that all God's children are welcome under the parish roof and that every person is an integral part of the parish family.
