In today’s account of the raising of Lazarus, we hear that “Jesus wept”. One of the shortest complete sentences in Scripture. This subject and verb combination invites us to discover Jesus’s sharing in all our emotions. The Lord who knew he was about to raise Lazarus from the dead, still wept, as he encountered those who were in grief. Jesus knows and understands our many circumstances, but he doesn’t leave us there, he seeks to raise us up. And often, he invites us to share in his ministry of raising others as well. Your prayerful response to the Annual Diocesan Appeal: One in Hope, One in Mission, offers us the opportunity to raise those in need out of poverty, by making possible the compassionate work of Catholic Charities, as well as our ability to extend the mission of the Church throughout our diocese. To date 63 families of St. Joseph Church have pledged $18,772.00 toward our goal of $34,500.00. This is our share of the $4,000,000 goal for our entire diocesan family. If you have not yet made a pledge, please consider doing so between now and next Sunday - Palm Sunday. For more information about the work of the appeal or to make a gift online, please visit www.doy.org. Thank you and God bless you. Together, we pray, “That all may be one!”.
