The Sisterhood of St. Joseph sponsors a one-time $500.00 scholarship annually for one or two graduating Catholic females planning on attending either a two or four-year college or a vocational-technical school. Applicants must have a B average and write an essay. This year’s recipients were Ashlyn Leavery, a senior at Theodore Roosevelt High School in Kent and a member of St. Joan Of Arc Church, who holds a 4.3 GPA and Makaylyn Spencer, a senior at James A. Garfield High School in Garrettsville and a member of St. Joseph Church, who holds a 4.11 GPA. Ashlyn is also a member and president of the National Honor Society, an altar server at St. Joan Of Arc, and member and captain of the girls’ golf team. Makaylyn is also a member of the National Honor Society, FFP-Mantua 2nd grade instructor, and a Portage North Life Teen member. Congratulations and best wishes for your future to both!
