Pastors Shawn Conoboy and Chris Luoni are pleased to announce the hiring of Marcy Fleming as Portage North Region Communication Coordinator. The new role was created to bring about more effective communications in the Portage North region—which includes the parishes of St. Ambrose-Garrettsville, St Joan of Arc-Streetsboro, St. Joseph-Mantua and Our Lady of Perpetual Help-Aurora.
As Communications Coordinator, Fleming will work with each of the pastors, deacons, and staff to ensure that communication among the four collaborating parishes is consistent, engaging, and timely for the people they serve. This will help to coordinate the collaboration process of the four parishes in the initial startup phase, and work to effectively move towards a cohesive plan that will meet the pastoral needs of all four parishes.
A New England native, Marcy Fleming earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing from Bryant College in Rhode Island. After extensive professional experience in office administration with Hitachi, she stayed home to raise her two children. Later, when her family moved to Birmingham, AL, she found a welcoming and vibrant parish where she converted to Catholicism. There, in addition to being an avid volunteer at her children’s Catholic school, Marcy worked as assistant director for the parish school of religion, and in the parish office until the family moved to Mantua, Ohio in 2021. In Mantua she began working at St. Joseph parish. She has been married to her loving husband, Don Fleming, since 1996, and they have two children, Christian and Audrey, who both attend college in the Midwest.
Commenting on her new role, Fleming says, “This is an exciting opportunity for me to serve. When I saw the ad for the position, I felt the Holy Spirit say “this is it” and felt led to apply. I feel blessed to be able to serve the faithful of our region in this way.”
