Did you know that St. Joseph Church will celebrate it's 100th anniversary as a parish this year?!
We became a mission in 1864. On August 17, 1923, Father Gracey became Mantua's first resident pastor and St. Joseph's became a parish. Plans are in the works to celebrate this big occasion throughout 2023.
If you'd like to help with any of these events or activites,
please contact the Parish Office (330-274-2254 or [email protected]).

OUR PATRON SAINT
Since we didn’t get a proper goodbye before Fr. Ed’s medical health leave of absence in the Spring of 2022, we’re having an Appreciation Reception for him on Saturday, April 15, after the 5 p.m. Mass (no RSVP needed). Come and show your appreciation for his time with St. Joseph and St. Ambrose parishes. There will be light refreshments and dessert. Fr. Ed also celebrates his birthday on April 19th. He’d love to see everyone so mark your calendars!
Fr. Ed became pastor of St. Joseph, Mantua, September 1, 2015.
As of August 15, 2019, St. Joseph Church became a collaborative unit with St. Ambrose Church in Garrettsville and St. Michael Church in Windham with Fr. Ed serving for all three.
In December 2021, St. Michael's was permanently closed merging with St. Ambrose. Following a medical health leave, he returned to ministry to serve as parochial vicar of Blessed Sacrament Parish and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Warren (January 1, 2023).
A springtime event for our parish's 100th is a tasty event for all parishioners on Sunday, May 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Pavilion (Hughes Hall if inclement weather). We're also celebrating our parish school's history with a special invitation to St. Joseph School alumni, teachers, and staff.Be sure to spread the news to anyone who attended or worked at the school from it's existence in September, 1962, until June, 2010. Check out Facebook for two ways to join in the fun!
